Brandy’s Story
Caring for her family has always been at the center of Brandy’s life. When her 18-year-old son with disabilities moved in with her, she welcomed him with love and responsibility, managing his medications and advocating for the care and benefits he needs. At the same time, she remained committed to her job, mindfully balancing work and caregiving while navigating her own health challenges.
This spring, that balance was tested. A series of unexpected work shutdowns, combined with upcoming surgeries, created a financial gap she could not absorb on her own. With rent coming due and uncertainty ahead, she turned to LEAVEN for help. LEAVEN stepped in with rental assistance, helping her remain housed while she focused on recovery, caregiving, and coordinating next steps with her employer and medical team. That support provided much-needed relief during an overwhelming moment and allowed her to keep moving forward for herself and her son.
When families face overlapping health, caregiving, and employment challenges, timely support can prevent a temporary setback from becoming a lasting crisis. LEAVEN’s mission is to empower and stabilize people like Brandy turning hardship into hope by providing the resources and support needed to navigate unexpected challenges with confidence.
