Michael’s Story

Weightlifting and podcasts helped Michael stay grounded, especially during periods of mental health challenges. He came to LEAVEN for critical repairs to his power steering and front brakes—work that kept his vehicle safe and reliable, allowing him to commute to his new job and access AODA services.

Y'all are fantastic. You've helped me multiple times, and I've never felt judged or obligated or anything negative in my interactions with anyone.” Michael shared.

With that support, he was able to focus on his mental health, return to the gym, and continue building strength both physically and emotionally.

When people like Michael can safely get to work and treatment, the benefits ripple outward: employers gain a reliable employee, roads are safer for everyone, and emergency systems face less strain when preventative care is accessible. Stories like Michael’s show how practical supports create stability that strengthens families, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

For 40 years, LEAVEN has helped build this kind of community impact by removing barriers that stand between people and their ability to contribute and thrive.
